Dr. Turki bin Saud received his PH.d in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, and joined King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in 1997. Soon after joining KACST he became the Director of the newly established Space Research institute. In 2004, Dr. Turki became the Vice President for Research Institutes of KACST and the Chairman of the Science Council. He is Chairman of: the Supervisory Committee of the National Science and Technology Plan; the Boards of several joint Nanotechnology Centers in collaboration with leading world universities and companies; and the Board of the National Technology Incubation program, BADIR. He is a member of the Advisory council for the School of Engineering at Stanford University. He was the Principal Investigator (P.I.) for the Ionized Gas Experiment during the Space shuttle Mission 51-G.
